SCS SB 466 -- SHERIFF'S FEES
SPONSOR: Bartle (Mayer)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Crime Prevention and Public Safety by a vote of 17 to 0.
This substitute repeals several provisions regarding court costs
assessed to defendants for the payment of sheriff's fees.
FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the substitute merely repeals
some obsolete language regarding sheriff's fees that are assessed
as court costs to a defendant. These fees were revised in a law
enacted in 2000 that made a complete overhaul of the way all
court costs are assessed, collected, and dispersed. The sections
in the substitute were mistakenly omitted from that legislation.
Testifying for the bill were Representative Yates; and Missouri
Supreme Court.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
